Description

Through this mural, I wanted to represent the feeling of the local patroness of L'Ametlla de Mar, the feeling of a protective entity for fishermen and a guiding light in bad situations. The veneration of the virgin through the procession that is celebrated on the 2nd of February involves every year new generational entities that maintain the feeling for the entity in a secular way, this mural aims to be a link between traditions and new generations . Although iconographically it is a disruptive image with the perception and representation that Catholicism offers of the Virgin, iconologically it continues to respect her attributes such as the candle and the two doves, in this case stopping the trances of the bad sea to be able to protect the fishermen who are located in its belly.

Description

Located in the building of the old fishermen's guild of L'Ametlla de Mar, this Saint Peter, patron saint of fishermen, stands by the town’s port, watching over the seas. With his characteristic beard and a yellow robe reminiscent of fishermen's coats, he rises amidst the maritime façade, holding the two keys as his attributes, along with the papal ring also attributed to the apostle, known as the Fisherman’s Ring.
