L’Ametlla de Mar expands the Efimurs route with a new urban art mural on the railway bridge of Part de Cala Avenue and the renovation of the mural on Miramar Street

Local artist Uri Márquez Cateura will create an intervention inspired by the seabed of Cala, and it will be funded under the EU’s Next Generation Tourism Sustainability Plan.

L’Ametlla de Mar continues to promote urban art as a tool for cultural and tourism development with the addition of a new mural on both sides of the railway bridge on Part de Cala Avenue. This new intervention will become part of the Efimurs route, a project that has been very well received by both visitors and the town’s residents.

The mural will be created by local artist Uri Márquez Cateura, who will contribute his creative vision with a design focused on the seabed. The artistic proposal connects directly with the town’s maritime identity and the natural richness of our coastline, turning the space into a visual tribute to the Mediterranean and the biodiversity that characterizes the Calero coast.

During the month of March, the mural on Miramar Street—also created by Uri Márquez—will be renovated, and will also feature the participation of Madrid-based artist Asem, creator of the mural “The Little Mermaid” located on Camarles Street, which was a finalist for Best Mural of last year.

Efimurs was born with the aim of transforming urban spaces into cultural points of interest, integrating contemporary art with the maritime essence that defines L’Ametlla de Mar. The success of the first interventions has consolidated this initiative as a complementary attraction to the destination’s offerings of nature, gastronomy, and sea-based activities.

The mural’s location, at a strategic and highly visible point, will help beautify the surroundings and create a new visual attraction that invites people to discover the town from a creative, sustainable, and locally rooted perspective. This initiative is part of L’Ametlla de Mar’s Tourism Sustainability Plan, funded by Next Generation EU funds, which promotes projects aimed at improving public spaces, diversifying the local offerings, and enhancing the value of local heritage.

With this expansion, the Efimurs route strengthens its role as an outdoor cultural itinerary, accessible throughout the year and aligned with the family-friendly, responsible, and environmentally respectful tourism model promoted by the town. In this way, L’Ametlla de Mar reaffirms its commitment to initiatives that connect culture, sustainability, and identity, generating new experiences both for visitors and for the local community.
