L'Ametlla de Mar is a fishing town on the Costa Daurada where the food is excellent. It is the only town there whose identity is included in its name, “The Sea”.It forms part of the Biax Ebre region, which is part of “Terres de l'Ebre” and was declared A World Biosphere Patrimony in May 2013 by the UNESCO. It is situated in the Gulf of Sant Jordi and has a magnificent 16 km long coastline that is made up of 26 creeks, many of which have been awarded the European Union Blue or Green Flags which denote beaches of excellent quality. Its beautiful cliffs 19 metres are above sea level and Mediterranean vegetation make the GR/92 coastal walk one of spectacular beauty.
